The dumbest smart people I know behave as though talking about their shortcomings will keep their employees from seeing them. The employees are not just aware but talk about these things among themselves. Then the dumb smart guy doubles down and treats this like it's a betrayal instead of asking their employees to shore up and make up for their shortcomings. That shortcoming may or may not go away but behavior like this does make  high quality people with dreams go away because they can only stand being held in a place without hope to live out their own visions of a great life for so long.

Stop treating your employees like they are blind and stupid.  If they really cannot see your shortcoming then you deserve each other.
